Practice

Learning changes us. At its best, education invites curiosity, connection and creativity. It becomes transformational when it is relational, imaginative, inclusive and led by the learner. This belief has shaped my work for over a decade as an educator and trainer in both formal and non-formal settings.

I’ve worked across the full breadth of education – from nurseries to universities – supporting teams to develop inspiring lessons, running interventions, leading presentations and collaborations, designing curricula and creating resources. I’ve seen again and again how learning flourishes when there is trust, play, spaciousness and a sense of belonging.

With specialisms in outdoor learning, continuous provision, wellbeing, leadership, storytelling, literacy and integrating the arts into education, I’ve shared my experience in settings across the UK and beyond. And in every space, I’ve learnt just as much from the people I’ve had the honour of working alongside. My work continues to grow from these relationships and the shared curiosity they spark.

Journey

Throughout my life, learning has always been led by curiosity. Childhood illness including the inability to read (one of my great loves!) resulted in many months out of school, where imagination became my gateway to the world. As an adult, I continued to deepen this practice of creative-led learning.  In 2014, I began a rich and long-standing collaboration with Eco Drama, delivering the award-winning Out to Play project across Glasgow – a blend of nature connection, storytelling and drama that has reached over 10,000 children and 4,000 teachers. I developed resources, led training programmes, and invited staff to explore their playgrounds as mythic landscapes rich in opportunities for learning and play.

I led an ambitious training programme for young creatives with Edventure Frome, supporting the creation of Legends of Frome, an Arts Council–funded immersive theatrical experience that brought local stories to life. As part of this process I co-designed the programme and supported participants to work with the local community to share their stories.

In 2020, I committed to working inside the education system and achieved QTS with an English specialism from the University of Exeter. I went on to teach across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, at a small South Devon school, contributing to trust-wide curriculum redesign with specialisms in outdoor learning, continuous provision, SEN inclusion and arts integration. Teaching through the pandemic deepened my appreciation for the role schools play in community life, and strengthened my understanding of inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming practice – including in relation to my own neurodivergence.

In 2024, I left the system – burnt out and disillusioned – and turned my energy toward dot dot dot, creating spaces where learning is a laboratory: curiosity-led, playful, relational and in collaboration with nature.

In summer 2025, I led the Youth Leadership programme at ISSOS St Andrews, supporting young adults to practise values-led leadership in service of what matters to them and the needs of the world.

I am also a Triple Wellbeing Fellow with ThoughtBox Education and a trained Drawing and Talking practitioner.
